Anticipating the critical state of Highway 37, United Bridge Partners, a private bridge investment company, proposes to take the edge off by funding the project for expanding the congested part of the highway and restoring wetlands, decades before the state arranges for funds.
“We have a huge problem in the North Bay today, and that problem is state Highway 37,” said the CEO of United Bridge Partners, at the Business Journal’s Construction Conference held on May 18. The 21-mile roadway represents the “disastrous” condition of U.S. public infrastructure carrying a huge list of back-burner projects.
The plan proposes to replace the existing roadway with a causeway to deal with current congestion as well as expected flooding to be caused by rising sea-levels.
