John joined UBP in 2022 as the Executive Vice President of Business Development with a rich career of industry-focused sales leadership performance and expertise in government, media, and community relations. He spent over 15 years at top firms in the industry—The Lane Construction Corporation, COWI Engineering, and Anchor Construction. Prior to leading the BD arm, John elevated Lane’s profile with government leaders, industry partners, and journalists as Director of Communications.
In the early 2000’s, John founded Tugboat Public Relations, a government, media, and community relations firm that successfully represented transportation and tourism clients in economic development matters. Before Tugboat PR, John served as a national spokesperson for AFGE, a legislative aide in the Ohio Senate focusing on transportation and state contracts, and as a White House speechwriting and research intern.
John has served on several national, regional, and local boards—from The Road Information Program (TRIP) to Rebuilding Together to the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. He currently sits on the Advisory Board of George Mason University’s Center for Transportation Public-Private Partnership Policy.
John earned a postgraduate certificate in Transportation Policy & Logistics from George Mason University, a master’s degree in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree in US History from Kent State University.
John and his family live in Alexandria, VA. He loves to be outdoors canoeing, hiking, biking, and gardening. He also enjoys ice hockey—he’s a former USHL player.
